Thatcham Category 5 is a new UK standard (criteria) for stolen vehicle tracking systems required by more and more insurance companies. It is the most comprehensive standard to date, covering technical criteria, service and performance, and the vehicle recovery procedures.

This is the first true standard to which all systems and companies supplying such systems are accredited. Working with the insurance, tracking and alarm industry, through Installation Standards, BSI and other quality control mechanisms, Thatcham has the means to check and validate the quality of companies working at all stages in the Thatcham Category 5 service chain. .As a Private Investgations firm, elkins&associates is well placed to offer vehicle tracking solutions (and asset tracking) to fellow PI companies. There are various solutions available depending on your requirement.

Ideal for the needs of the PI is the TS Trim Trac. Our unit has the flexibility of installation/insertion, robustness. ease of use and low cost required for usual PI assignments. It is affordable enough to be considered disposable should the assignment dictate so.

The TS Trim-Trac - Is a self-contained GPS unit supplied in a hard plastic water resistant shell. TS Trim Trac operates on a bank of 4 AA batteries* to run the necessary comms systems for up to 3 months and gives instant tracking over the web**. The unit sleeps until motion is detected when it sends location reports at defined intervals to allow a location fix of up ten metres accuracy*** through a web based map server. Using your account you are able to view the position on detailed street level maps. TS Trim Trac comes from a pedigree stable offering the world's first affordable, fully integrated vehicle tracking, security and recovery device for applications requiring periodic autonomous position reporting and/or real-time on-demand polling, and cost-effective wireless communications.

The TS TrimTrac is a self-contained and complete packaged end-user device. The size of a white board eraser, it can report position based on a variety of user-defined methods such as automatic sending of periodic autonomous reports, motion detected or scheduled reports, or even real-time on-demand polls for the reporting the most current position. These reports are sent as SMS text messages over a GSM communications network either individually or grouped together to reduce the telecommunication costs and improve battery life.
