- To conduct all investigations within the bounds of the law, morality and professional ethics.
- To report all facts relevant to the investigation without bias or manipulation, be they detrimental or advantageous, and that no information be withheld from the client except by dictate of the law.
- To hold all legal confidences imparted to the investigator by the client and to take reasonable precautions to prevent inadvertent disclosure of such information.
- To ensure all persons asked to assist in investigations understand and agree to be bound by this code of ethics or themselves subscribe to a similar code of ethics.
To take reasonable steps to verify the credentials of clients and that they have lawful and moral reasons to instruct an investigation.
